This creature has an exoskeleton.an outer skeleton like an insect would have. I think something threw this huge rock on purpose to kill the alien creature attacking it. I believe if you lift up this huge rock, you will find the remainder of the creature. What we see are two metal arms sticking out of an actual alien under that rock.
